Moms.. dads.. all beings who are wondering how the heck do you really get the best experience out of your photoshoot.  I have the answer for you!  There are MANY things that go into making your photoshoot successful.  A lot has to do with me and how I learned to make the experience leading up to the session, during the session and after seamless, fun and stress-free.  But.. the secret sauce that I am sharing with you today is going to make all of the difference.

BE. PRESENT.

BE. IN. THE. MOMENT!

Leave your phone and apple watch in the car or in your purse.  Try not to think of our time together is just for photos.  Why did you schedule your photoshoot in the first place?  It's not to update your Facebook profile picture.  It's not so you can get a great photo of you and your daughter in your new dresses.  You scheduled your session because you want to have this chapter of your lives captured and savored forever!  You may be at a time in your life where your toddler has delicious leg rolls or you are welcoming a newborn baby that you can't get enough snuggles with.  You are in love with your life right now and the imagination your five year old has.  Heck.. maybe you or your partner just overcame a battle with cancer and you want your love and connection captured so you can look back at this time and remember how strong and brave your family was during an emotional time.

Our time together for your photoshoot is about your connection, your relationship, your love for one another.. the happy moments, the silly ones, the quiet and sweet moments.  So, when you focus on simply being with your family and enjoying each others company that's where the magic happens!  Not in the perfectly posed photo of all of you looking right at the camera.  It's the moments where you are snuggled on a blanket laughing together, telling jokes, playing and being completely present iwith your kids and partner.

That is the secret sauce.  It's not the outfits, the location or even the angle of your photos.  It's the slowing down time, savoring each memory you are making with your favorite people.
