Tips for an Amazing Beach Photography Session
Planning a beach session with Rhiannon Livardo Photography? Get ready for a fun-filled adventure! Here are some tips to ensure your session is seamless:
- Mommas - if you are a dress-wearer.. choose a maxi dress or a maxi skirt! There is always a natural breeze at the beach. A longer skirt will work beautifully with the wind. Let's be honest.. we don't want your short dress to fly up in the middle of the session.. lol!
- Speaking of wind.. factor in longer hair. We can either embrace the wind blowing in your hair or opt for a hairstyle that is pulled back.. whichever you prefer.
- Bring a change of clothes. I don't force my families to get in the water.. it happens because if you're a beach person and you book a shoot you simply WANT to capture your family IN the water. So, if you aren't staying nearby and are driving back home you'll definitely want those changes of clothes so you're more comfortable in the car.
- Arrive early. I know it's so hard to get out of the house on time with little ones.. I was always an ontime kinda gal but once I had my daughter that changed. But, since we'll have your session scheduled pretty far in advance you will have ample time to plan for all scenarios (even me). The biggest reason to show up early (aside from being relaxed when arriving rather then stressed out for being late) is because we are scheduling close to sunset. Lighting is PRECIOUS. The golden hour light is only with us for about an hour. So we want to make sure we are taking full advantage of that gorgeous lighting.
- Relax and have fun! Beach sessions often work best when families can fun, laugh and interact naturally together. Activities like walking hand-in-hand, sharing cuddles, and enjoying playful moments usually lead to the most heartfelt photographs.
