What to Expect During an On-Location Extended Family Photoshoot in New Jersey

Groupings Breakdown

1. The Larger Group: Everyone Together

Expect to start the session with the big grouping of all family members!  This is the most important shot of the day + it's important that we start all photos that include little ones first.  We will capture a variety.. everyone standing beautifully looking at the camera, then we move on to the fun and candid shots!

2. Immediate Family of the Grandparents

This shot will focus on the grandparents and their children. This intimate grouping highlights the direct lineage and the parents’ bond with their own kids.

3. Grandparents with the Grandchildren

Capturing the special relationship between the grandparents and their grandchildren is essential and one of my favorite parts of the session.  Expect joyful interactions and candid moments that reflect the love shared between generations :)

4. Grandchildren on Their Own

This is a fun opportunity for the grandchildren to shine! Expect playful poses, laughter, and individual personalities to come through as we engage.

5. Each Individual Family

Every individual family within the extended family unit will have their moment together.

6. Siblings Together

Capturing only the siblings can yield some heartfelt and fun moments. Expect laughter, playful banter, and a sense of nostalgia as they reflect on their shared memories.

7. Candid Moments

Throughout the session, I'll be looking for spontaneous and natural moments. These candid shots often reveal the true spirit of the family and are often cherished for years to come.  These will definitely be everyone's favorites!

Tips for a Successful Photoshoot

• Consider coordinating outfits to ensure a cohesive look in group shots.  I will help you every step of the way if needed!  After you book your session I send over a ton of information to help decide on what is best for your family to wear.
• Prepare for varying weather conditions.  What I mean is.. when we schedule your shoot, I encourage us to find a second date just in case!  I know this can be hard when factoring so many schedules but trust me.. it's happened and it's better to be prepared then to stressfully find a new date on the spot.
• Encourage everyone to relax and enjoy the experience for the best results!  It can be intimidating being in front of a new person aka your professional photographer!  But, I've got you!
